FAQs

How do I prove that someone fits the criteria on the card?

Some challenges are easier to prove than others.

For example, if your card says “Find someone who has an older sister,” you could take a selfie with them while they show a photo of themselves with their older sister.

Other challenges, such as height, may require a bit more creativity. Unless you regularly carry a tape measure on a night out, try standing back-to-back so the height difference is clear in the photo.

Most importantly, play fairly. Socially Sound is all about positive social interaction. The more you cheat, the fewer people you meet and the fewer fun moments you create. In the end, the only person you are really cheating is yourself!

What happens if one person’s cards are much harder than someone else’s?

You’re screwed!

There is always a chance that one player will draw much harder challenges than everyone else, but that is part of the fun and unpredictability of the game.

You can agree before playing that everyone gets one redraw, but unless your group creates that house rule, you must stick with the cards you picked.

Do I have to use the blank “Make Your Own” cards?

No.

The Make Your Own cards are an optional bonus and are not required to play or enjoy the game.

They have been included to give your group the chance to get creative and add challenges that suit the people, location or event you are playing at.

We recommend using them because they can make each game feel more personal and unpredictable, but the game works perfectly well without them.

Who decides what is written on the blank “Make Your Own” cards?

Anyone playing can suggest a challenge, but the majority of the group must agree that it is suitable before it is added to the game.

Every custom challenge should be safe, respectful and appropriate for everyone involved. If the group is not comfortable with it, do not use it.

Remember, there are only five blank cards in the deck, so use them wisely. You may want to save a few for the next time you play.

Can I ask the same person to complete multiple challenges?

Yes.

If you meet someone who fits the criteria for two or more of your challenges, you can use that person for all of them.

Just take the photo with them holding all the cards they complete and your good!

Is there a time limit?

That is completely up to your group.

You can set a specific time limit, such as one hour, or agree that the game ends at the end of the night, festival, party or event.

Just make sure everyone agrees on the time limit before the game begins.

What if someone does not want to take a selfie?

Unfortunately, you cannot complete that challenge with them.

A proof photo is required for every completed card, so the person must willingly agree to be in the picture.

Never pressure anyone to take part. Thank them, move on and find someone else who is happy to join in.

What happens if I lose a card?

Do not lose your cards!

If you lose a card before completing it, your maximum number of completed challenges is reduced.

For example, if you lose one of your five cards, you can now only complete four challenges. If another player completes all five, they win. If the highest number completed by another player is also four, you tie.

Keep hold of your cards. They are literally your route to victory.

Can I create my own house rules?

Definitely!

Feel free to add your own twists, forfeits, prizes, time limits or team formats to suit your group.

You could allow one redraw, introduce a timer, create a punishment for last place or give a prize to the winner.

As long as your rules are safe, respectful and encourage positive social interaction, get creative.
